I know that this isn't exactly a "recipe", but boy is it a lifesaver! With the kids being back in school, I thought that I would share this again.
It makes packing lunches a breeze! My youngest is the only one who packs his lunch and he just requested that I start making these again.
All of my boys love the frozen "Uncrustables"! But of course, I think that the high price of them is ridiculous!
Here is how you can save money and make them yourself, without having soggy bread. I found bread for sale for only $.79 a loaf! So I am going to sit down with two loaves and make 22 sandwiches and stick them in the freezer.
I love having a freezer full of these frozen "Crustables" (because I never cut the crusts off). My youngest will love to pack an easy lunch now! And your family will too!

DIY Frozen Peanut Butter & Jelly "Crustables"
Ingredients:
Loaf of bread
Peanut Butter
Jelly or Preserves
Sandwich bags
Take two pieces of bread and spread a thin layer of peanut butter on each slice.
Place a spoonful of jelly onto one of the slices of bread and spread the jelly. Having the peanut butter on both pieces of bread keeps the jelly from making the bread soggy.
Place the peanut butter slice on top of the jelly slice, cut in half and place the sandwich in a sandwich bag.
Repeat until you are done with the loaf. I usually get about 10 to 12 sandwiches out of a loaf.
When all of the sandwiches are made and bagged, place the sandwiches back into bread loaf bag and store in the freezer.
Take the sandwiches out of the freezer in the morning and they will be thawed by lunchtime. Although I do have one son who likes them frozen!
I hate to waste food and never cut the crust off of my boy's sandwiches. If your child doesn't like the crust, you can always use a mason jar lid or buy an uncrustable maker on Amazon.
For easy storage in the freezer, I just stack the individual ziploc bags in the bread bag. It works out great!
This isn't just for school lunches! It is a big help for all lunches. Perfect to pack for work too. You will always want to have a freezer full of "Crustables" too!
